Over the next few minutes, I’ll cover three things:
  1. What Power BI is.
  2. How it fits into the Power Platform and Microsoft ecosystem.
  3. Why organisations use it to turn data into insights.
The goal isn’t to turn you into an expert — it’s to give you a foundation so you know what Power BI does and when it might be the right fit.

This is a beginner-level introduction designed for anyone who wants to understand what Power BI actually is, how it fits into Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform, and why organisations use it.

The purpose of this course is to give you a 101 introduction to Power BI.
 
Power BI is Microsoft’s business analytics tool that helps you visualise data and share insights across your organisation. It connects to hundreds of data sources, transforms raw data into interactive dashboards and reports, and enables better decision-making through data-driven storytelling.
 
In this video, we’re going to focus on giving you the basics:
  • What Power BI is and where it sits within the Power Platform.
  • A look at the core capabilities such as data modelling, visualisation, and sharing.
  • And finally, we’ll tie it together with a real-world example, so you can see how it helps an organisation make sense of its data.
The aim isn’t to overwhelm you with detail, but to give you enough of a grounding so you understand the value of Power BI and where it might fit in your business or career journey.
