Intended audience

This is a beginner-level introduction designed for anyone who wants to understand what Project Operations actually is, how it fits into Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform, and why organisations use it.

Project Operations brings together sales, project planning, resource management, time and expense tracking, and project financials into a single application. Instead of using one tool to sell, another to plan, and another to manage billing, you get everything in one place — giving teams a full view of their projects from start to finish.

Over the next few minutes, I’ll cover three things:

  1. Where Project Operations sits in the Microsoft ecosystem.

  2. The core capabilities you’ll see in every project lifecycle.

  3. A simple real-world example to bring it to life.

The goal isn’t to turn you into an expert — it’s to give you a foundation so you know what Project Operations does and when it might be the right fit.

  • Description

The purpose of this Course is to give you a 101 introduction to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Project Operations.

Project Operations is part of the wider Dynamics 365 ecosystem. It brings together sales, resourcing, project management, and finance into one end-to-end application. That means instead of jumping between different systems, you can run the full lifecycle of a project — from quoting, planning, and scheduling resources, through to tracking time, expenses, and project profitability — all in one place.

In this video, we’re going to focus on giving you the basics:

  • What Project Operations is and where it sits within Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform.

  • A look at the core capabilities such as project planning, resourcing, and financials.

  • And finally, we’ll tie it together with a real-world example, so you can see how it helps an organisation manage projects day to day.

The aim isn’t to overwhelm you with detail, but to give you enough of a grounding so you understand the value of Project Operations and where it might fit in your business or career journey.

So let’s get started.
